Your privacy
How Cornwall Leak Detection Specialists collects, uses and looks after your personal information.
Last updated: September 2026
At Cornwall Leak Detection Specialists (“we”, “us”, “our”), we take protecting your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we hold about you, how we collect it, and how we store and use it to provide our services. If you have any questions about it, please get in touch using the details in section 11.
The information we collect depends on the service you ask us for. It may include your name, email address, telephone number, the address of the property, the details you give us about the leak and, if you are a business, your business name and address. If you book with us, we also hold the payment details needed to take payment. If you phone us, the call may be recorded (see section 4).
We collect this information when you call us, email us, fill in a form on this website or book an appointment.
We use your information to reply to your enquiry and give you a quote, to arrange and carry out your appointment, to send you your report, invoice and updates about your job, to take payment, and to deal with any questions or complaints. We will only send you information about our other services if you have agreed to it.
We rely on the contract between us, or the steps you ask us to take before one, and on our legitimate interest in running the business properly. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
We keep your information accurate and up to date, store it securely, limit access to the people who need it to provide our services, and delete information we no longer need unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
Calls with us may be recorded for service delivery, billing, dispute resolution, quality and training. Recordings are kept for no longer than six months, unless we need them for longer to deal with a dispute or to meet a legal requirement.
We keep your information only for as long as we need it. Some records, such as invoices and other financial records, have to be kept for six years to meet HMRC rules. Call recordings are kept for no longer than six months, as set out in section 4.
We only share your information where we need to in order to provide our services, with service providers who process it on our behalf. These are SOMS Connect, our customer relationship management system, which stores enquiries, messages and call recordings; Make (make.com), which passes enquiries from the forms on this website into SOMS Connect; the company that hosts this website; and Google, which provides Google Analytics (see section 7).
Some of these providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure it is protected to the standard that UK data protection law requires. We never sell your information.
The first time you visit, we ask whether you are happy for us to use Google Analytics cookies. They are only set if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time with the cookie button in the bottom corner of every page.
If you say yes, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_VEDMLQWFBX so that we can count visits and see how people use the site, which helps us improve it. We rely on your consent for these cookies.
The Google Analytics script loads on every page whether or not you say yes. Until you do, it sets no cookies and sends Google only limited information about the visit, without any identifier that recognises you next time. Google still receives the request itself, including your IP address, as it would for anything a page loads from another website. We rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving this website for that.
Your cookie choice is kept in your browser's local storage under the name ldc_consent_v1, so we do not ask you again on every page. It is needed to respect your choice and is not used for anything else. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Like most websites, the server also records IP addresses in its logs and with form submissions, to keep the site secure and to deal with spam.
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it unless we have a legal reason to keep it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 11. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated. This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you have a question about this policy or about your information, call us on 07897 016222, email hello@leakdetectioncornwall.co.uk, or write to Cornwall Leak Detection Specialists, Cripstone Farm, Braddock, Lostwithiel, Cornwall, PL22 0RJ.
