Tracing a gas leak safely

A gas leak is a safety risk and must always be treated as an emergency first. If you can smell gas, hear hissing, or your carbon monoxide alarm is sounding, stop reading, get everyone out, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Do not try to find the leak yourself with anything that could spark.

Once the immediate danger has been made safe, specialist detection helps with locating an intermittent or hard-to-find gas leak, or confirming where pipework is failing. We trace gas leaks across Cornwall using tracer gas leak detection and the right procedures, and we work with Gas Safe registered engineers for any work on the gas installation itself.

Why a gas leak can't wait

A gas leak is never something to leave for later. Beyond the bill, the real risks are fire, explosion and carbon monoxide, which is why it has to be treated as an emergency.

If you suspect gas, act straight away:

get everyone out into fresh airdo not switch anything electrical on or off, and avoid naked flamesturn the gas off at the meter if you can do so safelycall the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999

Once you are safe, we trace the source precisely with proper equipment, so the leak can be made good and verified rather than guessed at.
