Water escaping under pressure makes a distinct sound as it leaves a pipe and travels through the surrounding material. Acoustic leak detection uses highly sensitive ground microphones and correlators to pick up that sound and pinpoint where it is loudest, which is the leak itself.

We often pair it with tracer gas and thermal imaging to confirm the source. Used with correlation, where sensors at two points calculate the exact position along the pipe, it locates leaks to within centimetres, so any excavation is minimal and precise.
